This Land Rover Series III is a charming, customised example of one of the marque's most popular models. Finished in Land Rover Mid Grey paintwork, with a hard-top roof in contrasting cream (removable vinyl graphics on the side panels).
Over the last 2.5years, it has been through a significant transformation at considerable expense, inc. a brand new fully galvanised chassis, a full respray, full brake disc conversion and a Series II 'backdated' front end (including wings, grille, headlights), with bills provided for this for over 18,000. It is powered by a 2.25-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, coupled to a four-speed manual transmission with a Fairey overdrive unit. It has also been retrofitted with new 4.12:1 ratio Ashcroft front and rear differentials. The rear deck has been clad in teak decking.
During the restorsation work, a new fuel tank, a new starter motor and a host of other new parts were also fitted. It comes with its original owner's manuals, and a selection of maintenance invoices, parts receipts, MOT certificates and correspondence relating to the car. The cherished registration 'TOT 976' is included in the sale. The odometer shows 18,350 miles, though the true mileage is not known. Inside there is black vinyl upholstery for the seating. It rides on black 16-inch wheels, with BFGoodrich All-Terrain tyres. It retains a bonnet-mounted spare wheel and inward-facing rear bench seating. Paintwork is in generally excellent condition, having been recently repainted. Inside, the cabin presents well, and the seats are in superb order having been replaced by the previous owner. The dashboard is original and shows various scuffs, nicks, and some warping. Elsewhere the remainder of the original interior features has a pleasant 'patina' of age and careful use. The most recent MOT test took place in 2019, resulting in a clean first-time pass. The car is now exempt from mandatory MOT testing. The latest service was carried out April 2022 by Land Rover specialist Juice Motors. The work comprised of a full service of the engine, overdrive and transfer box, a timing reset on the distributor, a set of new spark plugs, new points and condenser fitted, and a full four wheel brake conversion from drums to disc brakes. Prior to this, the car was serviced in May 2020, again by Juice Motors.
An excpetional and rare vehicle, which and should prove to be a faithful classic 4x4 for its new owner.
